The Charters Towers Motorcycle Club has urged members to attend its upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) after key committee roles went unfilled, leaving the club’s future uncertain.
The club, known for hosting major motocross events including the King of the Goldfields, will reconvene its AGM on Sunday, March 15 at 9am at the clubhouse after the initial meeting failed to fill key committee positions.
In a social media statement, the club outlined the potential impact on the community should the reconvened AGM again fail to attract enough members.
“CTMCC is more than a track,” the statement read.“It’s where kids learned to ride.
“It’s families spending weekends together.
“It’s the pits full of bikes and noise and life.
“It’s something this community built over years.
“If we can’t form a committee at the next AGM, control of the club will go back to the Life Members to manage in a care and maintenance capacity until they feel confident it can move forward again.

“That means no building.
“No pushing ahead.
“No new plans.
“Little or no events.
“It means a locked gate more often than not.
“No bikes in the pits.
“No noise.
“No kids lining up.
“No excitement in the air.
“Just a place that used to feel alive.”
The full statement is available on the club’s official Facebook page, along with other updates.
The outcome of the March 15 meeting is expected to shape the immediate future of the club.
