Our Town Association Inc. members receiving their nomination for Community Event of the Year at the 2026 Charters Towers Australia Day Awards
Local charity Our Town Association Inc. is calling for volunteers as growing demand places increasing pressure on its community services.
Well known throughout Charters Towers for providing mobility aids and independent living equipment to locals in need over the past decade, the organisation is now seeking additional support to help expand its reach.
To continue delivering these vital services at an increased capacity, President and CEO Jo Feirclough is encouraging community-minded locals to get involved.
Physically capable volunteers with suitable vehicles to assist in delivering larger equipment to locals in need are urgently required.
Full statement from Our Town Association Inc. President and CEO Jo Feirclough
Due to the growing aged and disabled population in our community, our services at Our Town Association are now stretched to capacity, and we are in urgent need of assistance to help distribute the required supplies to those who rely on us.
We urgently need more volunteers who can help share the load as demand for our services continues to grow.
As we approach our 10th year of operation this November, I am incredibly proud of how far we have come since starting with our original team of 6, and remain now as the current CEO and President.
Our charity has grown significantly in popularity, with more locals than ever before becoming aware of our services, and we now need more people on our team to help cater to the increasing public demand.
Our distribution of independent living equipment is in high demand, and at this stage, we have accumulated a substantial amount of equipment that needs to be distributed to the growing number of people in need throughout the Charters Towers community and surrounding regions.
At Our Town Association, we help people maintain their lifestyle, remain at home during recovery, and provide support when locals are physically struggling.
We take great pride in what we do, and I truly believe new team members will appreciate our outcomes while enjoying the opportunity to help others.
Everyone is welcome, and we are seeking volunteers to help carry the load while joining a team of like-minded people who have our community foremost in their hearts. If you are interested, please contact me.
