The Charters Towers Rodeo will return this year with another two-night program scheduled for July 17-18 at the Charters Towers Dalrymple Equestrian Centre.
This year’s event will feature rodeo competition, junior events, trade stalls and entertainment including performances from The Barnyard Band.
President of the Charters Towers Rodeo Association Inc, Tate van Wel, shared that several additions have been included in this year's program including additional junior competition events and new entertainment.
“We are running some local junior events on Saturday morning and including a full program of junior events throughout the main program to showcase our rising stars of rodeo,” Mr van Wel said.
“Extreme Steerwrestling on Friday night will provide great entertainment in addition to the full complement of Steerwrestling on Saturday.
“Toyota Tundra Showdown on Friday night will be lots of fun with activities for everyone including some in-arena games!”
Mr van Wel said organisers were looking forward to welcoming competitors and spectators back for this year’s event.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the rodeo arena for what will be a sensational couple of days, highlighting some of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the country,” he said.
“We love when rodeo fans, both local and travelling, get to experience the thrills and spills of rodeo under lights.”
Mr van Wel also encouraged the Charters Towers community to support the event.
“Come and support a hard working local committee who have put a lot of time and effort into making sure this event is an attraction for everyone to enjoy,” he said.
“Be part of the action, the excitement, the joy and the spirit of a great event for our town and region!”
