Rural Medical Imaging Charters Towers marked their first anniversary at Goldtower Central, having completed more than 8,900 scans in their first 12 months of operation.
2482 of those scans were performed with the town’s first CT scanner.
Owned by Mark and Bev Giffin, Rural Medical Imaging began with a single practice in Innisfail and has since expanded to six clinics across rural North Queensland, including Charters Towers.
Practice Manager Kieron Norris said Rural Medical Imaging (RMI) continues to deliver quality services for the Charters Towers community.
“The greatest accomplishment for the practice is being able to offer a service for the greater shire area, ensuring that patients no longer have to drive to Townsville to access the service,” he said.
“The ambulances no longer need to drive there either as many of the urgent CT scans are now available locally, saving valuable time and resources.
“Additionally, Qld Health are paying less Patient Travel Subsidies, as the services are now provided locally; this is a significant saving for their budget.”
Mr Norris also thanked the local community for their kindness over the past 12 months.
“RMI are thankful to the Charters Towers community for their support and kind words since we opened; also the wonderful Doctors, Midwives, Nurses, all allied health professionals and the dedicated Ambulance staff who have supported our service sending us patients,” he said.
“RMI is a privately owned company and we will endeavour to continue to provide a bulk billing service in all our rural communities.”
After 12 months of success, Rural Medical Imaging is seeking local talent who wish to train as Radiographers or Sonographers.
