After more than 30 years, Red Rooster Charters Towers’ long-time directors Gary and Rhonda Richards have passed the business into new hands.

The long-standing fast-food fixture in town will now be operated by Spencer and Teahly Gordy, who plan to continue serving the local community.

Mrs Richards thanked the community for its long-term support and wished the new owners well.

“Congratulations to Spencer & Teahly,” she said.

“We look forward to seeing them build their dream.

“We thank everyone for the friendship and continued support.

“Also to Drew & Melanie (Red Rooster managers) a huge thank you and to all the many staff we have employed over the years.

“Merry Christmas Charters Towers and a safe and Happy New Year.”

The new franchisees are eager to take on their new responsibilities, with Mr Gordy acknowledging there are big shoes to fill.

“We understand the impact and reputation that Gary and Rhonda have with the community and we above all want to continue to uphold the high standard of service that they have fostered over their 30+ years of ownership and give back to our community in the same ways that they have,” he said.

“Through the process of purchasing this business, Gary, Rhonda, and Mel have become some of our close friends, and our first connections in the community.

“We know we have some big shoes to fill, but we are up for the challenge and excited to meet the Charters Towers community in store.”
