The Charters Towers Homemakers Swap has launched as a monthly gathering, bringing locals together to share homegrown produce, baked goods, and handmade creations within a welcoming community.
The initiative continues to build momentum, offering a friendly space for locals to share their skills, connect with others, and take part when the next gathering is held on May 10.
Event creator Paris Dahl said the idea grew from her own love of homemade goods and conversations with friends who share similar interests.
“I’ve always loved cooking and making homemade things, and I often find myself chatting with friends about recipes and craft ideas,” Mrs Dahl said.
“I really loved the idea of being able to share that passion with others.

“When I came across a few pages hosting similar swaps in other towns, I thought it was such a beautiful idea — so I decided to bring it to our community and start the Charters Towers Homemakers Swap.”
The local initiative allows participants to exchange up to 5 items they have made themselves for a variety of different goods created by others.
Mrs Dahl said locals are encouraged to bring any items, provided they are homemade.
“As long as it’s something you’ve made, grown, baked, or created yourself, it’s welcome!” She said.
“We’re also kid-friendly, and all items must be clearly labelled to help anyone with allergies.”
The event organiser also said the first swap event, held on March 29 at the Pan Australian Mining Ltd Park, proved popular with the community.
“Our very first event was honestly such a success!,” Mrs Dahl said.
“We had an amazing turnout and so many beautiful homemade goodies shared — it was so special to see.
“We also teamed up with my sister, Sculpt by Ruby, who ran a free Pilates session in the park.
“Combining the two turned out to be such a hit, and we loved seeing everyone get involved.”
Community members and local businesses interested in participating can stay updated through the group’s social media pages including Facebook and Instagram (TheTowersHomemakerSwap).
