2026 Great Spaces of Charters Towers

Great Houses of Charters Towers is a heritage event that provides public access to a selection of historic properties across the Charters Towers region.

The event was established in 2018 by a group of local volunteers and has developed into a guided program focused on the region’s historic homes, architecture and local history.

The event includes guided and self-guided visits to participating properties, along with other heritage activities such as historical tours, exhibitions and fundraising morning teas.

The featured properties vary from year to year, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about Charters Towers history and heritage architecture.

Sunday August 16 - Starting at 10am

All tickets for Great Houses are being sold at the School of Mines Building at 24-26 Hodgkinson Street. The cost of the tickets are $20 and that will cover the 3 houses.

Even if you have pre purchased tickets (which makes our job so much easier, thankyou) please go to School of Mines and collect your official ticket. For the first time we are offering eftpos payments via a Square which makes the cash handling so much easier too. Any child still at school is free.

The Qld Cancer Fund is serving morning tea in the School of Mines but you may choose to go and visit the other houses first and come back. Your ticket will allow you to enter as many times as you choose. The booklet we hand out when you get your ticket will show the other addresses. Any questions please call Diana on 0409 397 758.
