Charters Towers Mayor Liz Schmidt expressed her excitement over the opportunity to speak with remote community members.
“I am looking forward as always to meeting with and chatting to the members of our remote communities, interacting with the people of those communities one on one and as a group; along with key staff; to relay our plans for their area but also and most importantly to listen to concerns and discuss options that best suit the needs of the various communities,” she said.
Mrs Schmidt also stressed the local Council’s commitment to transparency and communication with these remote communities.
“We as a council believe that every rate payer and resident of our vast regional council area deserves to be heard and informed and it is right that we go to them on a regular basis as well as being available via other means of communication,” she said.
“We also set up a Rural Advisory Group to the same end hoping to represent as many diverse areas and interests as possible.”
